Meribel - A Skiing Paradise
Meribel is situated in the Three Valleys area between Courchevel and Val Thoren in the French Alps. It is an attractive purpose-built village consisting of wooden chalets in a traditional alpine style, and is considered by many to be the best location in the French Alps in which to enjoy winter sports.
The ski season in Meribel runs from December to the end of April. The resort alone has 150kms of groomed ski runs, but offers access to an additional 450kms courtesy of its position in the middle of the largest inter-linked skiing area in the world. Meribel is the only resort in the Alps to offer 16 gondola-style ski lifts, as well as 18 chair lifts and 14 drag lifts. All skiing abilities are catered for at Meribel, from beginners through to experts looking for a challenge along the Olympic ski runs.
Meribel is not just about skiing though. During the summer months, when the snow line recedes up the slopes, a myriad of mountain activities can be enjoyed from Meribel. These include hiking, mountaineering, golfing and cycling. All in all, Meribel is a resort for anytime of the year.
Meribel is easily found off the main N90 road from Albertville. The nearest international airport is at Chambery, to where visitors can fly direct from the airports at Southampton and Paris.
