Football Party - A Salute to the Pigskin

Every football game shown on television is a reason to party with family and friends. Jazz up these game day occasions - here are some easy tips to make you the host or hostess with the mostest! This is NOT just another party plan, check it out! This article has Touch Downs and Fouls Prizes, Jump-Up Activities, Gridiron Foods and Game Day Desserts (including photo links to see the decorated cakes and cupcakes..

Wherever the television is located, decorate the room
Just as if it were a college campus home football game, decorate in the team colors with lots of balloons and streamers. If you have football jerseys, helmets, footballs (borrow from your children and their friends) and if you plan to have football parties again, think about investing in some football or cheerleading decorations.

Touch Downs and Fouls Prizes
This will amuse your guests throughout the game… you can ask family, friends, neighbors and collect odd, even weird, white elephant type gifts. Bet if you look in your own drawers, cabinets, kid’s rooms, garage, perhaps even the garden or tool shed, you’ll find stuff; see a garage sale, stop and take a chance. Place items individually in team color lunch bags and tie with team colored curly ribbons - this festive look also colors up your room and/or table. You will NOT need a lot of items if you put the name of each guest into a ‘football cap’ and decide when a name will be drawn for a specific happening, such as a touch down, yardage, fouls, no score in a quarter, etc. The name selected picks a prize bag.

Jump Up Activities Ask each guest to select one of the two teams and root for that team the entire game - hooray for good things, boos for bad things.

Touch down and Extra Point Guests rooting for that team are to get out of their chair and hoot, dance, make noise.

Personal Fouls Guests cheering for the team whose player or players have a personal foul are to get up and shake hands or kiss the opposing team guests.

Gridiron Foods Make it easy on yourself, especially if you plan to do this several times in a season. Either provide the food or ask your guests to make it a potluck - most everyone loves potlucks and this saves on the budget besides your time in the kitchen. Provide paper plates, napkins, cups in team colors.

Create foods in a football shape, here are some ideas:
